Most searched for words on the Internet

On a whimsical note..
This month the most searched for key words in the NY Times were: bush, george bush, president bush, bush veto, bush iraq, bush administration, bush iran, laura bush, bush immigration, gore bush.

Makes one wonder if there isn’t a secret room in the White House filled with interns checking up on us all.
On the other hand, the top 10 queries from the top metacrawlers on the web this week were: my space, youporn, google, ebay, youtube, kim kardashian, veterans day ecards, yahoo, myspace.com, rihanna.

I’m ashamed (or not) to admit I don’t even know what some of these words refer to! Anyway, the point is that our environment does more to define us than we think. How many of us are really intentional about choosing and crafting our environments?

I’m currently teaching a class on the artful use of language to students at an International Coaching school and it has been enlightening. So far, we’ve had comments about MTV and the generation gap in language use along with an email story sent to the class via v-mail (that’s video-mail, for those of you over 40)! My message here…language is proving to be more about technology than I had thought.

So, to all the change agents reading this blog, my suggestion is to pay more attention to how environments inform and shape you and yours and to wisely choose where to hang your hat, your logo, your shingle, or your head. You might find the connections to be more surprising than six degrees of separation.
